The waste management industry is central to delivering the necessary changes in the way we manage waste and in protecting the environment and safeguarding human health. The EA regulates the waste management activities including the transport, treatment and disposal of wastes. The main regulatory role in the sustainable management of waste is to protect the environment and human health through a system of waste permitting (waste management licensing and Pollution Prevention and Control (PPC) permits); compliance assessment, monitoring and enforcement.

Perrys Recycling & Security Shredding Service are approved members of the British security Industry Association. This trade association is for the professional security industry in the UK. Its members provide over 70% of UK security products and services and adhere to strict quality standards. The Information Destruction Section. The BSIA Information Destruction

Section consists of companies that undertake the secure destruction of information in all its forms, for example paper, DVDs and computer hard-drives. They also dispose of other items that could cause problems if they fall into the wrong hands, such as branded products and uniforms.

A major focus of the Information Destruction Section is to highlight both the overall importance of information destruction for businesses and the benefits to be gained from using a quality supplier. With identity fraud rising, many problems can occur - both legal and commercial- if sensitive information is not disposed of responsibly and destroyed effectively.

The work of the ID section is particularly relevant to the Data Protection Act. This requires a company's data controller to choose an information destruction company providing sufficient guarantees of security measures, including destruction being carried out under contract and evidenced in writing.

All BSIA Information Destruction companies offer this quality guarantee. In addition, they are independently inspected to a New European Information Destruction Standards BS EN 15713:2009, replacing BS8470 as part of their ISO 9001:2000 inspection. The British Standard is based on a BSIA code of practice developed by the section.

CPI provides a dynamic focus for all sectors of the paper industry to unite, to discuss, and to resolve issues of common interest and to promote a positive image for paper in its many applications. In January 2004 the British Recovered Paper Association (BRPA) became the Recovered Paper Sector Body of the newly relaunched Confederation of Paper Industries (CPI). The aims of the BRPA, to promote and protect the interests and well being of the UK recovered paper collection and processing industry and its Members, were safeguarded within the Sector Body identity when bringing together all the Sectors of the paper-making chain under the identity of the CPI. The Recovered Paper Sector, along with the Tissue Sector, Paper-making Sector and Corrugated Sector, gives the CPI a wealth of experience to debate and develop solutions across the paper industry.

FTA is one of the largest trade associations in the UK representing the transport interests of some 12,000 companies. FTA members operate over 200,000 lorries and around one million light vans; they consign over 90 per cent of the freight moved by rail; and they are responsible for over 70 per cent of UK visible exports by sea and air.

Climate change is one of the biggest issues facing the freight and logistics industry, and we are already responding to the challenge. Since 1995 C02 emissions from heavy goods vehicles have remained stable despite sustained economic growth. Quite simply it's called sustainable distribution and FTA believes that the freight industry has a positive contribution to make. FTA members are making themselves lean and efficient, cutting down waste and investing in modern, efficient technology.
